The Lake of Fire

There is a beautiful cathedral surrounded by the Feuersee or “Fire Lake” not too far from our apartment.

We really like a tapas spot called Rote Kapelle (or Red Chapel) — they have a large outdoor patio and are located just across the street.

I’m not quite sure why this place is called the Fire Lake. Robert thinks this may have been where the fire department came to get their water years and years ago. So that’s one theory?

Tapas!

Here are a couple of pictures from our Spanish dinner the other evening at Desiree, a tapas bar in downtown Stuttgart (better known as Stuttgart-Center or Mitte). We shared manchego cheese, jamon serrano, chorizo, octopus, artichokes, and garlic shrimp gambas. They also serve a very nice Aperol spritz (in my opinion, the official drink of summer). As you can see in the photo on the bottom, there were far more veggies than shrimp in the gambas so I’d recommend going with the tapas menu and trying many different things.
